On the anniversary of 9/11, an Italian-produced documentary called ZERO, investigating the tragedy, is opening in Russia. The authors believe that the U.S. official version of events surrounding the attacks can't be true. U.S. networks have rejected the film.

The events of September 11 2001 sent shockwaves around the world as hijacked aircraft crashed into the World Trade Centre, bringing the landmark buildings down, the Pentagon, and into a Pennsylvania field in the wake of a failed attempt by passengers to regain control.

The Empty space at Ground Zero in Manhattan stands as a memorial to the collapse of the towers, which killed nearly 3000 occupants and rescuers.

The makers of the documentary claim that the report of the official U.S. commission into the tragedy of September 11, 2001 is false.

One of the films authors, Giulietto Chiesa, who's also an Italian member of the European Parliament, says some of the facts concerning the tragedy remain very suspicious and that a lot of questions are still unanswered.

“The people who organised 9/11 are people who knew the geopolitical and energy situation in the world very well. They knew exactly how the attack will change the future of the world,” Chiesa said.

The film claims the reason for the collapse of the two towers of the World Trade Center in New York was not the planes crashing into them but a controlled detonation of explosives planted inside the buildings. Referring to witness corroborations, they pose the question of how two of the worlds largest buildings collapsed on their own footprint, and without significantly affecting nearby buildings.

Chiesa says he was shocked by the absence of U.S. air defense on the day of the attack, which allowed the hijacked planes reach the World Trade Centre.

He also finds it strange that, just three days after 9/11, U.S. officials were able to name all 19 terrorist involved. The film presents evidence that CIA specialists not only knew about the planned terrorist attack but assisted them in gaining U.S. visas.

The documentary also raises questions about whether the aircraft involved in the Pentagon attack was a Boeing-757. Adding to these questions is the absence of any footage from the many cameras installed around the U.S. Defense HQ, any wreckage from the aircraft, or passenger bodies.

The documentary also raises doubts, not only about Osama Bin Laden’s involvement in the attack, but also the existence of the Al-Quaeda terrorist organisation.

9/11 victims remembered in Moscow

A requiem service has been held in Moscow to remember those who died in the 9/11 terror attacks in New York seven years ago.

The requiem service was lead at St. Catherine's Church by U.S. born archimandrite Zahkey (Richard Wood). The ceremony was held both in Russian and English.

The U.S. Ambassador to Russia John Beyrle attended the service along with his international counterparts and Russian officials.

Beyrle said it was a day for people to mourn not only the victims of the 9/11 attacks, but for innocent people who have died in any terrorist attack.

A Positive Look At Sept. 11

By now everyone has been hearing the death toll rise and reports of the destruction from the terrorist attacks on the US. These were deplorable acts that we will never forget. But now is a time to look at the other side of the numbers coming out of New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. The sad but somewhat uplifting side that the mainstream media has not reported yet - the SURVIVAL rates and some positive news about the attacks.

THE BUILDINGS

The World Trade Center
The twin towers of the World Trade Center were places of employment for some 50,000 people. With the missing list of just over 5,000 people, that means 90% of the people targeted survived the attack. A 90% on a test is an "A"'.

The Pentagon
Some 23,000 people were the target of a third plane aimed at the Pentagon. The latest count shows that only 123 lost their lives. That is an amazing 99.5% survival rate. in addition, the plane seems to have come in too low, too early to affect a large portion of the building. On top of that, the section that was hit was the first of five sections to undergo renovations that would help protect the Pentagon from terrorist attacks. It had recently completed straightening and blast proofing, saving untold lives. This attack was sad, but a statistical failure.

THE PLANES

American Airlines Flight 77
This Boeing 757 that was flown into the outside of the Pentagon could have carried up to 289 people, yet only 64 were aboard. Luckily 78% of the seats were empty.

American Airlines Flight 11
This Boeing 767 could have had up to 351 people aboard, but only carried 92. Thankfully 74% of the seats were unfilled.

United Airlines Flight 175
Another Boeing 767 that could have sat 351 people only had 65 people on board. Fortunately it was 81% empty.

United Airlines Flight 93
This Boeing 757 was one of the most uplifting stories yet. The smallest flight to be hijacked with only 45 people aboard out of a possible 289 had 84% of its capacity unused. Yet these people stood up to the attackers and thwarted a fourth attempted destruction of a national landmark, saving untold numbers of lives in the process.

IN SUMMARY

Out of potentially 74,280 Americans directly targeted by these inept cowards, 93% survived or avoided the attacks. That's a higher survival rate than heart attacks, breast cancer, kidney transplants and liver transplants all common, survivable illnesses.

Pass this information on to those in fear and the media. Don't fear these terrorists. The odds are against them.

In some cultures women do not wear garments over their breasts and yet the men of their culture apparently ignore their breasts as sex objects. So why are American and European men so fascinated by them? It must not be a purely male thing or else all men would share that attraction. Anybody got an answer?

This isn't an "Answer", but among the civilizations who's women do, and have for centuries, covered their bosoms, many psychologists say it's the "can't have/see theory."

Covering/hiding something infers "You aren't allowed to see this." Human nature being what it is, we naturally want to peek. You can easily prove this with a covered dish, placed amoung a group of empty, uncovered dishes. Most will walk by the empty uncovered dishes with hardly a glance. The covered dish will get the lid lifted 90 percent of the time or better.:)

Since women's breasts have been treated as sex symbols for centuries, in the countries in which they are covered, men try to see more of the "forbidden fruit" as it were.

The advertising industry has the display of "the forbidden fruit" down to an art form, and they are VERY careful to leave some, however little, covered, to maintain interest in what it is they are selling.

Thomas Williams, 25, pleaded guilty Wednesday to 11 felonies, including nine burglary counts. He also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor voyeurism.

Williams was arrested in April after police said a search at his home 50 miles southeast of Cleveland turned up more than 300 women's undergarments. Police said they were led to Williams because he had used Facebook to contact some victims, who didn't know him.

The sentence handed down by Stark County Common Pleas Judge John Haas allows Williams to apply for probation after 4 1/2 years.

His lawyer said Williams is now in counseling.

Death at the Holocaust Museum and the Degradation of the American Dialogue

Ann Coulter, the self-described "conservative Christian" right-wing talking head, is much on my mind as I contemplate the horrifying images that came out of Washington from the Holocaust Museum, where white supremacist James von Brunn opened fire in an attempted mass-murder of Jews. His killing spree was cut short by security guard Stephen Tyrone Jones who put himself in the line of fire and died so others might live. [GF: it is unfortunate that some of the media published this good hearted security guard's surname as "Jones" and others as "Johns". I was unable to verify his true name.]

I am remembering an October 2007 segment of the Donny Deutsch Show where Coulter asserted that America would be better off if everyone was Christian and that "the Jews" merely needed to be "perfected" through conversion.

Coulter has made her fortune by generating, fanning, and nurturing hatred and contempt for a variety of people, including liberals, Democrats, gays, foreign nationals, 9/11 widows, feminists, single mothers, Muslims, and any other group she could throw to her disenfranchised readership as shark bait.

To Coulter, referring to Jews as "imperfect" on a talk show hosted by an observant Jewish host must have seemed like just another day at the office. Coulter shook her blond hair and tittered, as though waiting to be found witty, charming, and adorably irascible. Oh Ann, you minx! You're just pushing everyone's buttons, aren't you? Shame on you, you dead-sexy fascist pin-up. Stop teasing. You don't really mean that. I mean, not really, right? Right?

Deutsch, clearly appalled, pointed out that the comment was not only patently absurd, but also hateful. Coulter giggled. A gold crucifix gleamed against her bony clavicle. "No," she said, "it's not hateful at all."

This week, nearly two years later, James von Brunn, driven by his own twisted version of Coulter's publicly-proclaimed perspectives regarding the "imperfection" of Jews, entered the Holocaust Museum in Washington and put them into action, with tragic and deadly consequences.

Much the same thing happened on May 31st when Scott Roeder entered the Reformation Lutheran Church during Sunday services and slaughtered abortion provider Dr. George Tiller. Media analysts continue to explore a possible continuum between Tiller's murder and FOX host Bill O'Reilly's well-documented on-air tirades against the doctor, whom he repeatedly called "Tiller the Baby Killer." O'Reilly broadcast his vendetta to millions and millions of FOX viewers already infected with evangelical superstitions and a horror of science, especially science as it applies to a woman's right to choose.

If O'Reilly had been a serious journalist or broadcaster instead of a sclerotic, chronically-aggravated right-wing rage pimp, he might have had the professional self-awareness or ethical sense to realize that he was putting George Tiller's life in danger over the more than 28 broadcasts in which he used Tiller's name. But O'Reilly, like, for Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, and indeed Coulter herself (to name only the gratin of that particular food chain) is neither of those things.

As a group, they are the pop culture equivalent of necrotic carrion beetles, crawling with insectile determination from one infected open wound in the American psyche to another. The wounds include fear of race, fear of foreigners, fear of sexuality, fear of difference, hysterical religious fundamentalism, violent nationalism, and paranoia. They lay their eggs in the infected abrasion, then scuttle away. When the eggs hatch, disgorging rage and discontent, they start counting money.

When challenged on the inherently destructive nature of their enterprise, they invariably claim that their First Amendment right to free speech is being abrogated. Or, like Ann Coulter defensively does in those instances, they cite their place on the New York Times bestseller list. Or the ratings. In other words, since people buy it, watch it, or listen to it in huge numbers, it must have merit, and it must be right.

[...]I felt deeply for my Republican friends who, on some level, must also be experiencing the embarrassment and discontent of recognizing that their party had been hijacked by racists and religious fanatics who derided education and achievement as "elitist."

Sarah "Screw the Political Correctness" Palin, on the other hand, seemed right at home. She marched into those same crowds grinning and winking, and "Yoo betcha-ing" like she was onstage at the Miss Alaska pageant. While her supporters waved watermelon slices and stuffed monkeys, Palin talked about who the "real Americans" were, and who was "palling around with terrorists." She refused to address the blatant racism of her fans, or address the obvious exploitation of Obama's middle name, Hussein, and the implication she herself was making with her "terrorist" comments.

She was, after all, playing to the accurately-named Republican "base," the same crowd to whom George Bush had sold his second presidential term by pandering to their darkest and most cowardly aspect. This time out it was fear of gay marriage and adoption, carefully tended fear of another 9/11, fear of more fallout from a war they still didn't believe he'd lied about.

One can almost appreciate the horrible honesty of the racists among the McCain-Palin supporters who were able to admit what the others obfuscated: that they didn't want a black man in the White House. Certain videos from their rallies are deeply disturbing. They showcase the seething racism of her most ardent followers.

There was a time when decency, even honor, was an essential part of the American dialogue in its most ideal form, and part of its very identity. There was a time when our culture would have recoiled in horror at the vituperation flowing unchecked from radios, televisions, and the Internet, instead of applauding it as "common sense," "free speech," or "mavericky," or "a spin-free zone."

There was a time when intellectual honesty was not considered unpatriotic; when compassion for, and understanding of, your fellow man was a sign of strength, not weakness. There was a time when the phrase Have you no shame? meant something, and the First Amendment was not used as toilet paper to wipe up the excremental verbal degradation of vulnerable segments of the American population. A time when it was expected that citizens would understand the difference between free speech and irresponsible speech. Somewhere along the line, a cancerous segment of American popular culture and media cunningly exploited the long-standing, honorable American "cowboy" motif and mentality. They grafted cruelty, divisiveness, and ignorance to it, making the two appear indistinguishable, and natural allies. And they are neither, or at least ought not to be.

There is no Environmental Protection Agency to measure hate pollution in national dialogue, and no mechanism in place to warn us when the poisonous rage spewed into the national consciousness by shock-jocks, poisonous television pundits, megachurch leaders, and oh-so-subtle politicians, has reached dangerously toxic levels.

No, there is only the result: widows, orphans, collective grief, and an absolute refusal on the part of our loudest, coarsest voices to take any responsibility for their part in the carnage.

Australia's last World War One soldier dies, aged 110

CANBERRA (Reuters Life!) – The last remaining Australian to serve in World War One has died at the age of 110, Veterans' Affairs Minister Alan Griffin said on Wednesday.

John "Jack" Ross, who was also Australia's oldest man having turned 110 in March, died in his sleep early Wednesday morning at a nursing home in Bendigo in the state of Victoria.

Ross was 18 when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in January 1918 and trained at the wireless training school, but the war ended nine months later and before he could be posted overseas. He was discharged on Christmas Eve that year.

"Mr. Ross showed his willingness to serve Australia and her allies in what was an extremely tumultuous time in our history, and for that we are grateful," said Griffin in a statement.

"While he did not travel overseas, he completed his training, ready for deployment."

Griffin said Ross was the last of 417,000 Australians who served in World War One and one of only a handful of remaining veterans from that war.

Ross served Australia again in World War Two as a member of the Volunteer Defense Corps. As a civilian, he worked for the Victorian railways before retiring in 1964.

"It now falls to Australians everywhere to ensure that veterans memory is kept alive. We must ensure that their contribution to Australia's wartime history is passed on to future generations, so that their sacrifice is never forgotten," said Griffin.

Last Friday, I was blissfully reading an article by one of my favorite columnists, Joan Walsh at Salon.com, when I came across the name of a disease that I hadn’t heard of before. Obviously quite a serious disease as apparently many people are going to die of it.

The disease is “anal poisoning.”

Since English is an acquired language to me, I wrote it off to unfamiliarity with the language and asked my doctor friend, a pathologist, about it. He had never observed this phenomenon in his “patients,” nor was he familiar with the term, although he mentioned that mercury or arsenic when inserted into the proper place might produce such results.

Well, my next place for such research was, of course, Google.

And, lo and behold, there were 15,000 references for “anal poisoning.”

I thought that I had hit the mother lode on this perilous medical condition. But to my surprise, every one of the references I looked at—I stopped after about the 400th entry—was somehow related to that famous entertainer (some refer to him as the de facto leader of the GOP), Rush Limbaugh.

On the eve of the 2009 Bilderberg Group conference, which is due to be held May 14-17 at the 5 star Nafsika Astir Palace Hotel in Vouliagmeni, Greece, investigative reporter Daniel Estulin has uncovered shocking details of what the elitists plan to do with the economy over the course of the next year.

The Bilderberg Group meeting is an annual confab of around 150 of the world’s most influential powerbrokers in government, industry, banking, media, academia and the military-industrial complex. The secretive group operates under “Chatham House rules,” meaning that no details of what is discussed can ever be leaked to the media, despite editors of the world’s biggest newspapers, the Washington Post, the New York Times and the Financial Times, being present at the meeting.

According to Estulin’s sources, which have been proven highly accurate in the past, Bilderberg is divided on whether to put into motion, “Either a prolonged, agonizing depression that dooms the world to decades of stagnation, decline and poverty … or an intense-but-shorter depression that paves the way for a new sustainable economic world order, with less sovereignty but more efficiency.”

The information takes on added weight when one considers the fact that Estulin’s previous economic forecasts, which were based on leaks from the same sources, have proven deadly accurate. Estulin correctly predicted the housing crash and the 2008 financial meltdown as a result of what his sources inside Bilderberg told him the elite were planning based on what was said at their 2006 meeting in Canada and the 2007 conference in Turkey.

Sadly, the tourist who died here in Houston of the Swine Flu was an incidental tourist, an innocent little toddler, 23 months old. His mother brought him to the border, then across to an American city, back and forth. The baby entered a Texas hospital and was then transported to Houston by emergency flight. The baby died here. Another Mexican baby was admitted to a San Antonio hospital.

Mexicans tend to act as if the United States is a suburb of Mexico and cross the border as casually as running to Fiesta . Illegals entering the country have to sneak and avoid border patrols but otherwise act as if they have a right to be here. Most have little understanding of the transmission of disease and those who do, ignore it, believing "Not me!" nor apparently do they care if they infect others on their way here.

Bienvenido."Give me your tired, your poor...your sick and diseased." The American taxpayers are happy to pay your medical bills. We understand that you prefer American hospitals to those in your own country. Plus if you suspect malpractise, you can sue the pants off the doctor and hospital and return to your own country rich.

WASHINGTON – The White House plans an inquiry into a low-flying photo shoot by a presidential plane that panicked New Yorkers, and President Barack Obama said Tuesday it won't happen again.

But theorigins of the government public relations stunt that went awry remained an engrossing mystery.

"I think this is one of those rare cases where we can all agree it was a mistake," Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said of Monday's "unfortunate" flight low over the Hudson River that for many on the ground evoked chilling memories of 9/11.

The sight of the huge passenger jet and an F-16 fighter plane whizzing past the Statue of Liberty and the lower Manhattan financial district sent panicked office workers streaming into the streets.

White House officials did not say why new photos were needed of the plane that is sometimes used as Air Force One — Obama wasn't aboard the flight — or who the presumed audience of the planned photographs were.

My first response to this stupid event was, "WTF was the purpose of this fucking flyby photo op?"My second was "what brainless asshole conceived it and what secondary asshole approved it?"Question: Was the purpose to re-activate the 9/11 terror (it worked) to draw attention away from the citizen rage over the torture hullaballoo and the demands to investigate and prosecute
the offenders? Same-o terror tactics? Scare the living shit out of the sheep and they'll come
running to the government baaing, "Save us! Save us!"

It worked for Bush and Cheney and there's plenty of Bushies still in government. I'm interested
in their stupid lies to justify what they did. Were they so clueless that they had no inkling of the depth of emotional and psychological damage had been done by 9/11 to New Yorkers (and the rest of the country)? My opinion? You're damned right they knew! That's why they did it or they didn't give a damn. Photo op, my ass! Military exercise? My ass again.

Our deepest sympathy, New York. We are sorry that you suffered terror again. I agree with your mayor: "Mayor Bloomberg said he was "furious" and criticized both the feds and his own administration for failing to issue a simple warning to the public in a city that is still somewhat traumatized by the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

I didn’t hear it this morning but I used to work in lower Manhattan and can assure you that workers these days are highly attuned to unusual air traffic in the area. Not a day has passed in seven-plus years, I think, that an airplane has flown low enough overhead that I could hear it, even just barely, and I didn’t look up. Just watching the video, I could feel the blood drain from my face. [Gadfly - check out these links, especially "watching the video". If those planes are 1,000 to 1,500 ft. high, I'll kiss your sweet patootie. Some residents who estimated the height at 500 ft. were closer to the truth. Watch the planes fly around the skyscrapers and think of how the citizens on the ground felt after going through 9/11.]

An Air Force One lookalike and two F-16s buzzed the Statue of Liberty in New York harbor this morning, halting work on nearby construction sites, causing residents and office workers to flee their high-rises and giving thousands of people in downtown Manhattan and New Jersey a major fright. At least two people were treated for minor injuries at Jersey City Medical Center after falling during the rush to exit their high-rises.

“Everybody panicked,” said Daisy Cooper, a Merrill Lynch worker in Jersey City, who lost a nephew on 9/11. “Everybody was screaming and we all ran downstairs. I’m devastated…Everybody was running, we didn’t know why we were running. We just knew it was a plane, there we go, 9/11 again.”

The Americans With No Abilities Act

Washington , DC - (Dateline March 4, 2009)

Congress is considering sweeping legislation that will provide new
benefits for many Americans. The Americans With No Abilities Act
(AWNAA) is being hailed as a major legislative goal by advocates of
the millions of Americans who lack any real skills or ambition.

"Roughly 50 percent of Americans do not possess the competence and
drive necessary to carve out a meaningful role for themselves in
society," said California Senator Barbara Boxer - Democrat. "We can no
longer stand by and allow People of Inability (POI) to be ridiculed
and passed over. With this legislation, employers will no longer be
able to grant special favors to a small group of workers, simply
because they have some idea of what they are doing."

In a Capitol Hill press conference, House Majority Leader Nancy Pelosi
- Democrat, and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid - Democrat - pointed
to the success of the U.S. Postal Service, which has a long-standing
policy of providing opportunity without regard to performance.
Approximately 74 percent of postal employees lack any job skills,
making this agency the single largest U.S. employer of Persons of
Inability. Private-sector industries with good records of
non-discrimination against the Inept include retail sales (72%), the
airline industry (68%), and home improvement warehouse stores (65%).
At the state government level, the Department of Motor Vehicles also
has an excellent record of hiring Persons of Inability (63%).

Under AWNAA, more than 25 million mid-level positions will be created,
with important-sounding titles but little real responsibility, thus
providing an illusory sense of purpose and performance.
Mandatory non-performance-based raises and promotions will be given so
as to guarantee upward mobility for even the most unremarkable
employees. The legislation provides substantial tax breaks to
corporations that promote a significant number of Persons of Inability
into middle-management positions, and gives a tax credit to small and
medium-sized businesses that agree to hire one clueless worker for
every two talented hires.

Finally, the AWNAA contains tough new measures to make it more
difficult to discriminate against the non-abled, banning, for example,
discriminatory interview questions such as, "Do you have any skills or
experience that relate to this job?"
"As a Non-abled person, I can't be expected to keep up with people who
have something going for them,"said Billy Bob Gertz, who lost his
position as a lug-nut twister at the GM plant in Flint , Michigan ,
due to his inability to remember rightey tightey, lefty loosey. "This
new law should be real good for people like me," Gertz added.

With the passage of this bill, Gertz and millions of other untalented citizens
will finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. Said Senator Dick
Durbin (Democrat-IL), "As a Senator with no abilities, I believe the
same privileges that elected officials enjoy ought to be extended to
every American with no abilities. It is our duty as lawmakers to
provide each and every American citizen, regardless of his or her
inadequacy, with some sort of space to take up in this great nation
and a good salary for doing so."

Just one quick look at men's chastity belts is enough to make you shudder at such antihuman invention of the mankind. British and German women, however, feel free to make their husbands wear genital irons before letting them leave for work. Chastity belts became popular with men only a few years ago. The advantage of wearing a chastity belt was exposed to men of the world in 2002. Salzburg lawyer Henrich Firshman was accused of sexual harassment at work. The lawyer's wife told the judge that the suit filed against her husband was groundless, because the man had been wearing a chastity belt at work for two years. The belt was presented at the court - it looked quite worn out. In addition, forensic experts proved that the belt was worn by Firshmen. The chastity belt saved the man's career and relieved him of the need to pay thousands of euros of penalties. About 30,000 European men come to work wearing chastity belts nowadays. This astounding Puritanism during the age of sexual revolution has been probably caused with people's wish to be 100 percent sure of their faithfulness. It is noteworthy that women wear chastity belts in such families too. Chastity belts are presumably worn by gigolos. European women have a fondness for hiring young men from developing countries for sexual favors. Women pay them 500 euros a month, but they also make their young studs wear chastity belts to protect them against their own frivolous behavior. According to websites, which sell men's chastity belts, modern gigolos are ready to stand any humiliation for money. Experienced gigolos advise amateurs to ask for expensive plastic chastity belts from their women. Plastic belts, they say, do not jingle and more importantly - they do not cause any inconveniences with metal detectors in stores and airports. Specialists of medicine say, however, that chastity belts are very harmful to men. They are very tight and rigid; they may block blood flow and cause painful edema, tissue numbness and even temporal impotence. Glen Beck Show - Columbia Professor Passes Out

The staff of Fox's "Glenn Beck" show is used to a fair share of theatrics from the self-proclaimed "rodeo clown" host. (See when he simulated dousing a guest with gasoline.) That could explain why nobody initially moved when Beck's guest, Columbia professor David Buckner, passed out during Monday's interview. See it here:

Buckner, who was discussing the causes of bankruptcy when he lost consciousness, is reported to be doing fine, and even later had the energy to apologize to Beck for the scene. Beck responded, in typical Beck-ian fashion:

"Are you kidding me? The ratings will go through the roof!"

But it's not like the former radio personality-turned-CNN host-turned-conservative media darling needs any ratings help. His three-month-old nightly show on Fox, known for incensed critiques of the Obama administration and an apocalyptic view of the future, typically draws about 2.3 million viewers. That is more than any other cable host except Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity.

TIME attributes the show's success to Beck's antics and likens it to a game of Jenga:

"(The show) teeters from humor to predictions of apocalypse to self-esteem sermons to fits of weeping. ('I'm sorry. I just love my country. And I fear for it.') This is what makes it so compelling: the breathless feeling that at any moment, everything could spectacularly collapse."

Beck even announced earlier this week that he is taking a comedy show on the road, making six live appearances starting June 1.

According to the AP:

"Beck calls his act a 'poor man's Seinfeld' and intends to mix topical humor with his modern-day reimagining of Thomas Paine's 1776 pamphlet 'Common Sense.'"

Beck's personal history may be just as fascinating as the histrionics he is known for. A self-described reformed alcoholic and drug addict, his mother committed suicide when he was 13, and later his brother also committed suicide. Beck joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 1999. He told Salt Lake City's Deseret News back in 2006:

"'I only had two roads -- kill myself or redeem myself…I think God stalked me for a while. He threw Mormons in my path.'... Beck said he kept thinking, 'How many of these (Mormon) freaks are there?'"

The article goes on to attribute Beck’s desire for people to be more honest and open to his "stormy past." And it's quite obvious Beck's own emotions are never far from the surface. He's criticized America for being "on the road to socialism," he’s ranted that "God and religion are under attack in the U.S.," and most recently, he's wondered out loud whether FEMA was setting up concentration camps. (He later admitted they are not.)

But one man's honesty is another man's critique. Beck's critics chastise his rhetoric and say he is inciting fear and maybe even an armed revolt.

Jeffrey Jones, a professor of media and politics at Old Dominion University and author of the book "Entertaining Politics," tells The New York Times:

"People hear their values are under attack and they get worried. It becomes an opportunity for them to stand up and do something."

And comedian Bill Maher recently accused Beck of producing the "same kind of talking" that led Timothy McVeigh to blow up the Oklahoma City federal building in 1995.

Whether you're of the camp that believes Beck's show to be a bunch of angry conservative ranting, or you're planning to attend the Alamo tea party with him, there is no dispute that Glenn Beck has blazed a name for himself.

But even his supporters aren’t immune to his barbs -- as he's said himself on many occasions:

Compaq is considering changing the command "Press Any Key" to "Press Return Key" because of the flood of calls asking where the "Any" key is.

AST technical support had a caller complaining that her mouse was hard to control with the dust cover on. The cover turned out to be the plastic bag the mouse was packaged in.

Another Compaq technician received a call from a man complaining that the system wouldn't read word processing files from his old diskettes. After trouble-shooting for magnets and heat failed to diagnose the problem, it was found that the customer labeled the diskettes then rolled them into the typewriter to type the labels.

Another AST customer was asked to send a copy of her defective diskettes. A few days later a letter arrived from the customer along with Xeroxed copies of the floppies.

A Dell technician advised his customer to put his troubled floppy back in the drive and close the door. The customer asked the tech to hold on, and was heard putting the phone down, getting up and crossing the room to close the door to his room.

Another Dell customer called to say he couldn't get his computer to fax anything. After 40 minutes of trouble- shooting, the technician discovered the man was trying to fax a piece of paper by holding it in front of the monitor screen and hitting the "send" key.

Another Dell customer needed help setting up a new program, so a Dell tech suggested he go to the local Egghead. "Yeah, I got me a couple of friends, "the customer replied. When told Egghead was a software store, the man said, "Oh, I thought you meant for me to find a couple of geeks."

Yet another Dell customer called to complain that his keyboard no longer worked. He had cleaned it by filling up his tub with soap and water and soaking the keyboard for a day, then removing all the keys and washing them individually.

A Dell technician received a call from a customer who was enraged because his computer had told him he was "bad and an invalid". The tech explained that the computer's "bad command" and "invalid" responses shouldn't be taken personally.

An exasperated caller to Dell Computer Tech Support couldn't get her new Dell Computer to turn on. After ensuring the computer was plugged in, the technician asked her what happened when she pushed the power button. Her response, "I pushed and pushed on this foot pedal and nothing happens." The "foot pedal" turned out to be the computer's mouse.

Another customer called Compaq tech support to say her brand-new computer wouldn't work. She said she unpacked the unit, plugged it in, and sat there for 20 minutes waiting for something to happen. When asked what happened when she pressed the power switch, she asked "What power switch?"

She's the readingest woman I ever saw. If she's not researching something on the internet, reading her emails and "newsies", she's reading a book or some mags.

I don't read all that much and sure don't have the interests she does, that woman studies everything of every sort, but this science mag had an interesting cover on it so I was sorta flipping through it. Wondering what the hell she found so fascinating about some of that stuff.

Dan'l, I think The Gadfly filled your prescription to cure what ails us during her holiday escapade.

I am not interested in filling the prescription, however. The only likely candidate (in my opinion) is the "professor" and I'd probably kill him like a black widow spider (except I would not eat him!!) if he even tried. We are good friends but there is NO romance between us on my part. There are a couple of would-be contenders but my aloof stare of "don't even THINK about it!" discourages them from advancing. :-)

For years and years they told me,
Be careful of your breasts.
Don't ever squeeze or bruise them.
And give them monthly tests.
So I heeded all their warnings,
And protected them by law.
Guarded them very carefully,
And I always wore my bra.

After 30 years of astute care,
My gyno, Dr. Pruitt,
Said I should get a Mammogram.
"O.K," I said, "let's do it."

"Stand up here real close" she said,
(She got my boob in line),
And tell me when it hurts," she said,
"Ah yes! Right there, that's fine."

She stepped upon a pedal,
I could not believe my eyes,
A plastic plate came slamming down,
My hooter's in a vise!

My skin was stretched and mangled,
From underneath my chin.
My poor boob was being squashed,
To Swedish Pancake thin.

Excruciating pain I felt,
Within it's vise-like grip.
A prisoner in this vicious thing,
My poor defenseless tit!

My chest is mashed in her machine,
And woozy I am getting.

A present like THIS (below) from your special FRIEND?? It is odd that you haven't spoken of him nor even mentioned whether or not he was there. Hmmm! Could it be that you were told that he was coming to the whing ding and that HE was one who was wanting you to come too? Is THAT why you decided to make that long, cold ride on a bike??? Or conventional gifts from friends? It's passing strange that you haven't brought your presents up to show them off. Or is it that you CAN'T show off your gift?? How was it gift wrapped or did it just have a big red bow tied on?
Oh! You shameless hussy!! You don't have to cop to it; your exceptional good humor and little secret smiles rat on you. Must have been a VERY GOOD present. And don't give me any of that b.s. about age. I recall quite well the statement you made about age vs youth and quality vs quantity! You said quality beat quantity every time. Furthermore, you compared it to fine aged wine vs green bottled. Mmm Hmmm! My memory might be failing but I remember that conversation. :-)

I'm glad you had a good time and was able to get the hell out of Dodge. I'm glad that you had a happy, happy Christmas.

Hide-a-bed? If she wants one here, she can darn well buy it herself. Anyway, if she's going to homestead here, she can start paying half the rent!! She may as well; she's here much of the time anyway. (I don't mind, but don't complain about the accommodations, old girl!)

Home Again, Jiggety Jig

I'm home again, slightly the worse for wear but I had a great time!! I needed a get-away. I went to see some friends not too far from Houston. They were preparing to take off to see other old friends for the holidays and begged me to come too. They swore that "everybody" wanted me to come. They said I hadn't been up there since last summer. I refused at first because I thought there was snow up there. Those lying sacks of shit claimed there was no snow! Hah!

I finally agreed to go but they were going to travel on their motorcycles and get some wind in their faces. "Hell, No! I ain't riding no bikes in this weather! I'll freeze my ass off! Anyway, I'm too damned old to ride bikes any more."

Well, yeh, I might have been born to be wild and was wild as a buck for many years before I got civilized. But they were real good persuaders and I yielded to temptation......One loaned me some leathers, I climbed on a bitch seat and away we went. YeeHaw! Like old times.

I had forgotten how hard a Harley rides but my old bones soon reminded me. There were 6 bikes in convoy and I didn't want to slow them down by howling for a pit stop so I could take a piss and rest my butt and back awhile. Good thing ain't none of them spring chickens either and they stopped without me having to act a wimpy candy ass. It got harder and harder for me to dismount and remount, though. The old bod was cussing me really bad! When we hit snow, I was doing some cussing from hell.

By the time we got there, I was paralyzed from the cold and froze up joints. I had to be lifted off the damned bike and held up until I could stand alone. Fucking fool I was to go on such a trip! Did I use to think that shit was FUN??!! I was cussing both myself and my friends until Grand Central Station erupted from the house. We were bowled over by wild hugs and kisses and loud voices and yelps of pleasure. "Get'cher asses in the house and warm up. Y'all feel plumb froze solid!"

Warmed by friendly love and hot toddys, I stopped berating myself and got glad I had come. There was a horde there, come for the holidays, and it was old home week in spades. Damn but it was good to see so many of the old wild bunch. Time and the veneer of civilization slipped away and it was like old times. I even forgave those that lied about there not being any snow up there.

They are old and graying now but still wild at heart. And still doing their do-good bit like a lot of bikers do. Bikers ain't all bad. The huge pile of stuff in the corner of the den was a collection of toys and foodstuff they'd accumulated for poor kids/families. They'd done a fund raising run right before it turned off cold plus beat the bushes for donations of all sorts of stuff. A couple of the guys brought their pickup trucks to use as Santa sleighs to haul the goodies and the rest were going to ride their bikes in convoy as they distributed Christmas .

Ofcourse I agreed to go with them (in spite of the damned snow) and play Santa. About 10 AM the next morning we took off. Some rode in the back of the trucks (brrrr!) to hand out bundles at the appropriate houses. They were lollygagging along, laughing and hoorawing each other, pausing to throw snowballs at each other, and singing bawdy versions of Xmas carols.

Taz (me) and the rest of the loony tunes gang plowing through the frigging snow.

I don't do snow very well and even though it was real heartwarming to see the faces of the people and little kids when we dropped off the gift bundles, my ass was freezing. I got them revved up and in high gear with a little (a lot) of Taz spinning so we could get the hell through and get HOME!

Back at the house, there was feasting....

and drinking......

and other entertaining activities...

I was a perfect angel! I was so energized with virtue I actually joined a batch outside for snowball fights and helped build a snowman - would you believe it? Damnation, but we had a blast. Too soon it was time for different ones to pack it in and head home - and I had to face that looong ride back. I was so glad to see my little car in the drive. A closed in automobile with a HEATER and soft seats!
I stayed awhile to ease my aching bod then hit the road for Houston.

Back home, my apartment was cold (I'd turned the thermostat way down when I left) and empty with no food in the fridge, so-o-o I hightailed it to the Old Woman's apartment and eased in the door. It was toasty warm, the fridge was crammed with real food, so I made my bed on the love seat and settled in. The cat came to look inquisitvely at me and the Old Woman was cutting ZZZs in her water bed. My old ass was dragging and the bed on the love seat was inviting, but I brought my plate to the desk and got on the computer to post my return while Worried was asleep. It was a good runaway scrape but I'm glad to be back. I am exhausted!
